Google's Pixel 4 smartphone can be unlocked with facial recognition even if someone's eyes are closed, shocked users have discovered.
The security concern was revealed just days after the phone launched on Tuesday this week.
Although Google acknowledges the way the system works, it was described as a 'significant' security threat by one expert after a BBC reporter discovered the hack earlier this week.
In contrast, Apple's Face ID requires someone to have their eyes open and look at the phone in order to open it.
One expert said being able to unlock someone's phone without them knowing could put extra strain on relationships if partners feel the urge to snoop.
