WhatsApp has updated its privacy policy – You must agree to WhatsApp’s new terms if you want to keep using it!


Facebook-owned WhatsApp has started notifying its users about the updated terms and privacy policy. Though privacy policies are usually quite lengthy and boring to read. Sometimes, it is important to be aware of how a particular service uses and stores your data, especially when it’s an instant messaging app like WhatsApp.

The company has updated terms about how it handles such massive data reserves, how it will communicate with businesses from now on, and how it shares data with Facebook. The updates will come into effect from February 8, 2021.


Accept or Delete- No Other Way Out


WhatsApp mentions in its ‘Information We Collect’ section that if a user opts to use the “optional features,” the service will collect additional information to provide those features and notify the user about it.


If the user doesn’t agree to provide the additional information, they cannot use the feature. Moreover, after the new updates come into effect, those who do not intend to agree to its new terms and privacy policy will be unable to use the app. 


WhatsApp’s notification to inform users about the upcoming updates also mentions that those who want to delete their account instead of agreeing to the new terms should visit the help center for further guidance.
