Something new from the Technology Partnerships Office

Patenting NIST technologies serves as a gateway to the commercialization of NIST innovations. Patents promote NIST’s critical mission, “To promote U.S. innovation and industrial competitiveness by advancing measurement science, standards, and technology in ways that enhance economic security and improve our quality of life.”

Quick and easy access to NIST patents increases the likelihood of forming partnerships and ultimately commercialization of NIST technology. Previously, access to NIST patent information was only available through the Federal Laboratories Consortium (FLC) website.

The Technology Partnerships  Office (TPO) introduces an abbreviated version of NIST patents accessed directly at nist.gov/patents.  The following information is available: patent number, title, description, inventor, and expiration date. For full information for each patent click on the patent title which takes you directly to the patent on the FLC website. Besides the above, the full version includes abstract, benefits, technology type, internal laboratory reference number, and issue date for each patent.

Now available are the FY 18 patents, and a selection of NIST-on-a-Chip (NoaC) patents, and  some of the FY 19 (uploading is in progress.) Going forward NIST patents will be available as they are finalized.  Take a look at our patents and see  a wealth of opportunities for collaboration.
