The FBI believes Russian hackers are to blame for a cyber attack that brought down City of Oshkosh computers.
City spokeswoman Emily Springstroh says they never received a formal request for money or anything else. She says their I.T. department realized what was happening, and got in touch with the FBI. She says the federal experts have left Oshkosh, but they’re still talking with city staff.
Springstroh says the FBI doesn’t think the cyber attack is connected to a similar attack on the City of Racine.
She says the biggest problem they had was not being able to access tax payments online. Springstroh says they’re still trying to get all of the workstations up and running again.
