That’s why dark web intelligence can be incredibly valuable to your security operations center (SOC). By leveraging this critical information, operators can gain a better understanding of the tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) employed by threat actors. With that knowledge in hand, decision-makers can better position themselves to protect their organizations.
This is in line with the classic teachings from Sun Tzu about knowing your enemy, and the entire passage containing that advice is particularly relevant to cybersecurity:
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
