THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KL Sriram, a native of Nedumangad, Thiruvananthapuram, has been awarded one crore worth Google Cloud Award for notifying Google about the problem that would have affected the privacy of lakhs of people. The 22-year-old is the first Indian to win this award in the last three years.
Google, with over a billion customers, appreciates those who point out flaws in their services. Google Cloud Award was introduced three years ago.
Sriram was interested in the technical aspects of computers and the Internet from a young age. He understood the possibilities of ethical hacking on his own and learned programming codes in his spare time.
Problem discovered
A link comes on our phone from a stranger’s number. A hacker can steal all the information in the Google Cloud of the person who opens it. It was this problem that Sriram informed Google in 2022. The award was announced a week ago. A friend named Sivanesh from Tamil Nadu also helped him.
Dream to become an entrepreneur
Now Sriram lives in Kanyakumari with his family. He is a computer science student at a private engineering college in Chennai. His company Squadron Labs was launched a year ago. Sriram’s biggest dream is to grow this initiative to help private companies diagnose problems with their software and services. His father Krishnamurthy, is a contractor. Liji, his mother is a housewife. Bharat and Dhanwant are brothers.
