Lazarus Group making up ‘lost ground’ after quiet year with fifth cryptocurrency heist in three months, expert says


Cybercriminals from North Korea’s Lazarus Group are likely responsible for the recent theft of at least $70 million worth of cryptocurrency from an exchange, a U.S. cybersecurity firm reported Friday, marking the threat group’s fifth major heist in just over three months.


Elliptic attributed last Tuesday’s attack on Hong Kong-based cryptocurrency exchange CoinEx to the prominent syndicate after confirming that the attackers transferred some of the stolen assets using a bridge that Lazarus previously employed.
