FBI warn olympians to leave devices at home

The FBI has sent out an alert to warn attendees and athletes going to the Beijing Winter Olympics to leave mobiles and other devices at home due to the risk of potential cybercrime activities at the event. The alert was published yesterday by US law enforcement, who claimed that although they are not aware of any specific threats at the winter games, they are urging any partners to remain cautious.

The notice shared by the FBI read, “the FBI urges all athletes to keep their personal cell phones at home and use a temporary phone while at the games. The National Olympic Committees in some Western countries are also advising their athletes to leave personal devices at home or use temporary phones due to cybersecurity concerns at the games.”
