Webcast It’s shocking how blasé ransomware-toting criminals can be about freezing the operations of any organisation they can insinuate themselves into, including critical utilities or medical facilities.


But almost as shocking is how many organisations feel they have no option but to simply pay up if they want to get back to work.


In fact, the FBI estimates that the amount ponied up to ransomware attackers increased ten fold between 2018 and 2020. Even worse, those figures are likely a gross underestimate given victims’ understandable reticence about disclosing whether they’ve been stung, plus they don’t take into account lost business or other costs.

And, as with so many areas, “innovation” by ransomware merchants has been fueled by the COVID-19 pandemic, as they took advantage of the reconfiguring of the workforce and a thirst for news to refine both their payloads and the way they diss ..
