  • The family of a young tech executive who was crushed in a horror elevator accident in Manhattan have filed court documents indicating they plan to sue for wrongful death.

    Samuel Waisbren, 30, was killed on August 22 when the elevator in his Kips Bay apartment building plummeted as he tried to step off on the lobby floor.

    Six other residents - one who stepped off the elevator moments before Waisbren, and five who remained trapped inside as he was gruesomely crushed to death before him - walked away from the scene unscathed.

    Now, Waisbren's uncle Benjamin and father Charles have hired a law firm to 'investigate and prosecute a claim for the wrongful death and personal injuries sustained by Sam,' according to court papers reported by the Daily News.
