Cyberattack Hits Major Sportswear Brand ASICS in Public

But now we do have something both new and unusual. The incident took place at a busy Asics store on a major high street in Auckland, New Zealand, on Sunday (September 29). Blaming the incident on this alleged “cyberattack,” Asics took to Facebook to apologise to anyone impacted by the imagery—and with reports of young children among those passing by, this was a serious PR hit. No reports yet as to who may have been behind this incident, but the police have been informed and are investigating. As reported by the New Zealand Herald, the store manager blamed “a cybersecurity breach,” and said he was "100% sure" the videos had not been uploaded by a member of staff. The store manager confirmed that “a full investigation into what happened and who uploaded the page” was underway, adding that “screens were immediately turned off when they turned up for work on Sunday.
