Argentina’s borders frozen after ransomware attacks



A Netwalker ransomware attack targetted Argentina’s official immigration agency, Dirección Nacional de Migraciones, which resulted in Argentina’s border crossing being halted for 4 hours.


Ransomware attacks against local agencies are becoming more frequent, but this may be the first attack to affect a countries operations.


The Argentinian government first noticed the attack after border checkpoints made tech support calls at 7AM on Agust 27th according to a criminal complaint published by Unidad Fiscal Especializada en Ciberdelincuencia, Argentina’s cybersecurity agency.
