Multiple EU organisations have been hit by a cyber-attack

In March a number of European Union organisations, including the European Commission, were hit by a cyber-attack. A spokesperson from the European Commission has revealed that the incident, thought to have taken place last week, impacted the IT infrastructure of several EU institutions. The spokesperson told BleepingComputer, “we are working closely with CERT-EU, the Computer Emergency Response Team for all EU institutions, bodies and agencies and the vendor of the affected IT solution.”  They also went on to say, “the Commission has set up a 24/7 monitoring service and is actively taking mitigating measures.”

An investigation is ongoing but so far no major information has been compromised in the breach, according to the spokesperson. The spokesperson also said, “let me use this occasion to recall that we take cybersecurity very seriously and apply strict policies to protect our infrastructures and devices.” They also emphasised that they “investigate every incident.”
