Maze ransomware operators claim to have hacked printing giant Xerox

Malicious actors behind the Maze ransomware claim they have breached the systems of U.S. printing giant Xerox Corporation and stolen more than 100GB of files that they threaten to leak if the company refuses to pay the ransom.

While Xerox itself has not yet confirmed the alleged ransomware attack, the Maze operators have published multiple screenshots on their website showing the compromised server(s) files and data encrypted by the ransomware.

One of the screenshots contains a warning stating that Xerox must contact the operators within 3 days, otherwise, “the information about the breach would be posted on Maze public news website”.

The attackers claim they have stolen more than 100GB of files from Xerox.

“After the payment the data will be removed from our disks and decryptor will be given to you, so you can restore all your files,” the ransom note reads.

Last week, the Maze operators revealed they have compromised the systems of the South Korean electronic goods manufacturer LG Electronics and stolen 40 GB of source code from LG. In June, the Maze ransomware gang breached the US chipmaker MaxLinear and gained access to employees’ personal information.
