Coronavirus LIVE Queensland updates: state prepares to ease restrictions

Queensland is on track to ease strict coronavirus-related movement restrictions by the weekend, after recording just one more case yesterday.

The good result continues the state’s track record for the past fortnight of either single-digit rises or no new cases at all, ahead of an easing of restrictions at the weekend.

But Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk warns Queenslanders to act responsibly and observe social distancing once the relaxed restrictions came into force.

"That means if a car park is packed at a national park, please don't go there. If a beach is packed, don't go there. Use your common sense," she says.

Residents will be able to drive up to 50 kilometres from their home for recreational purposes, but all other social-distancing restrictions will still apply, including remaining separated from other people and not meeting up with more than one other person in public outside of a family group.

Sales of purported and potentially dangerous "vaccines" for COVID-19, repurposed antiviral medications and personal protective gear are booming on dark web markets at exorbitant prices.

An analysis by the Cybercrime Observatory at the Australian National University in April uncovered 645 listings for 222 unique COVID-19 related medical product supplies on the equivalent of supermarkets on the dark web.

Professor Roderic Broadhurst, a professor of criminology, says his team identified many vendors selling purported vaccines on the dark web.

The dark web, popular for sales of illegal drugs, can only be accessed via an encrypted browser that allows users to remain anonymous.

The ANU found many COVID-related products including a respirator, according to a study to be released today by the Australian Institute of Criminology which commissioned the research.
