Brisbane teacher allegedly distributed images of ‘sexual abuse, torture of children’

Police allegedly seized a number of electronic items during the search of Mr Gill’s home, where he lives alone, including a laptop and phone said to contain a “large quantity of child exploitation material”.

“A quantity of child exploitation material was located, which included toddlers, pre-pubescent and teen children being digitally and orally raped,” according to court documents.

“This included the sexual abuse and torture of children ranging from toddlers to pre-teen. Investigations have revealed that the defendant accesses child exploitation material on a very regular basis, as recently as yesterday [July 26].

“Police have located evidence on the defendant’s electronic devices which suggests that the defendant is also distributing child exploitation material among a network of associates.”

Mr Gill, who has no prior criminal history, has been charged with three counts each of possessing child exploitation material and using a carriage service to access child abuse material.

He was initially refused bail and appeared in the Brisbane Arrest Court on Wednesday.

He made a bail application, which was successful, and emerged from the Brisbane Watchhouse before getting into a waiting car and being whisked away.

The case will be heard in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 16.

Detectives were working to identify females on the material and whether they were linked to Mr Gill.

Any victims, mostly believed to be in north Brisbane and Ipswich, who had contact with Mr Gill should contact police.
