Alleged REvil hackers charged in court

Eight people have been charged by Moscow court for their alleged involvement in the REvil ransomware gang, Russian News Agency (TASS) reported. The arrests were made as part of a larger raid on Friday across 25 locations in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Lipetsk. The men were charged on Saturday with violating Part 2 of Article 187 of Russia’s Criminal Code, referring to the “illegal circulation of payments.” As a result, they are facing up to seven years in prison along with a fine of approximately $13,150.

The FSB stated it went ahead with the raid after receiving information about the ransomware group’s alleged leader and other members from US authorities. During these raids, the Russian Federal Security Service seized 20 luxury cards, 426 million rubles, $600,000 and Є500,000.
